Placebex is an open-label placebo. That means that it is a pill with no active ingredients — and we want to be sure you know it.

Placebex contains no sweeteners, preservatives, flavors, dairy, gluten, soy, nuts, eggs, shellfish, or medication.

But just because it contains no medication, it doesn't mean that there's no effect. A recent major research paper on open-label placebos in the journal Nature reports on giving people placebos and telling them it's a placebo. 

The conclusions: 

1. Placebos work.

2. Even when you know you're taking a placebo.

We found a significant overall effect (standardized mean difference = 0.72, 95% Cl 0.39–1.05, p < 0.0001, I2 = 76%) of OLP. Thus, OLPs [open-label placebos] appear to be a promising treatment in different conditions but the respective research is in its infancy.
